anyone familiar with history is aware that meisters and weapons as we know them came about some four or five hundred years ago. but even the most astute student of the past knows nothing of the eight great sorrows, an odd strain of weapons, witches and meisters that radiated a strong wavelength of insanity. they were like carriers of some disease, unaffected by their own wavelength but able to spread it like a plague. some used it to galvanize the development of kishin. others either never realized the effect they had, or when they did, isolated themselves from the world.
well, maybe past-tense verbs aren't the most appropriate thing to use here. see, they're still around, but they're not here, with us, you know? they're sealed away, unable to darken your doorway. lord death had to do something to prevent their unusually strong wavelengths from turning the world upside down, so he locked them all inside of a young student weapon by the name of pandora. she was sent away with four of the best the dwma had to offer, all under the disguise of a travelling carnival (she was, after all, utterly enamored by the carnival life, so it was logical to put her at ease by letting her live that life).
a few of the sorrows were understanding of why they had to be put away like some shameful note that couldn't be erased. most, though, were outraged, unless they were just insane in the first place (which several were). they fought for their escape, and have continued fighting for four hundred years.
maybe that's why there's the smallest of cracks in the box, now.
the cracks in the box haven't gone unnoticed, either. people have found themselves drawn to the carnival by the sudden influx of a madness wavelength, most notably those of sinister intent. it seems they want the box for their own, to pry it open and do with the four hundred-year-old contents, most of which being quite powerful or just plain insane, as they please. certainly, that wouldn't end well, if it were allowed to happen.
but to most of the residents of death city, these troubles are a world away. right now, there's something weird going on in their home, or rather, a lot of "somethings": perpetually cracked mirrors in a new hotel in the east district; voices of people who are six feet under coming from the speakers of a dance club; technical issues at the arcade; movies playing at the theater that are nothing like the movie in the reel and, more importantly, give an intense feeling of dread to the audience--the list goes on. no one can really figure out why these things are happening all of a sudden. even lord death seems to be clueless, and maybe a little more agitated than usual.
unless he's lying. but surely, he wouldn't lie about something like this, right?[/style][STYLE=background-color: 0883a6; width: 430px; color: 2f2f2f;] . [/style][STYLE=font-family: arial; font-size: 9px;]Made by MINNIE of BTN.[/style]
